A Legacy of Local Impact Across Africa

MTN’s commitment to socio-economic development spans more than two decades. The MTN South Africa Foundation, launched by former President Nelson Mandela in 2001, established a model for technology-enabled social investment focused on education, digital inclusion and community development.

This was followed by the establishment of the MTN Nigeria Foundation in 2004, with additional MTN foundations launched across markets including Ghana, Uganda, Sudan and others, creating a growing network of locally governed foundations across Africa.

Today, MTN foundations continue to operate across the continent, delivering impactful programmes that combine digital skills and inclusion with country-specific initiatives aligned to national development priorities.
